How to Set-up Compact Flash 64mb or 2Gb - 4Gb in the Amiga

A600, A1200, 4000D

or You can do this with WinUAE.

You'll need a valid Workbench 3.1 ADF or Genuine Disk's.
Because Workbench is still sold commercially.

 

Download  WinUAE

 

Download my CF Configuration

CF Hard Drive.uae for WinUAE

 

I found it easy to do this in WinUAE

 

 

You Need to Edit your shortcut to add  -disableharddrivesafetycheck

 

Load up WinUAE ,

and load my CF Configuration in to WinUAE ONLY

And now run.

In WinUAE load WB Installer ADF.

or on Your Amiga Load Genuine Installer Disk up.

 

  

Go to HDToolBox Drawer.

Load up HDToolsBox.

lift Mouse on HDToolBox st1,

and then go right mouse on Icons at the top sreen then Select Information.

( YOU Do NOT need to do this with your Genuine Disk it is ONLY for WinUAE. )

 
 

You can see the line says SCSI_DEVCE_NAME=scsi.device

( YOU Do NOT need to do this with your Genuine Disk it is ONLY for WinUAE. )

  

You need to EDIT the line to SCSI_DEVCE_NAME=uaehf.device

Now Save

( YOU Do NOT need to do this with your Genuine Disk it is ONLY for WinUAE. )

 
 

Select Charge Drive Type.

 

 You will see Generic USB CF Reader 1.xx, Then Select Define New
 

Now you need to Press Read Configuration

 

 Now Press Continue
 

Then Press OK

 

 Then ok again
 

Now Select Partition Drive

 

 Now Select Default Setup.

This will Partition you CF Card in to 2 Partition as Default
 

You can see My Partition of 61Mb as

2 Partition GDHO GDH1 it will be the same if

you have 2GB or 4Gb

Now Press OK

 

 Then Press Save Changes to Drive and then exit
You are now ready to format your drive's

 

lift Mouse on GDH0 or GDH1

and then go right mouse on Icons at the top screen then Select Format Disk.

 
 

Name GDH0 to Workbench or WB CF

Press Format

 

 Press Format
 

Press Format

 

 Now Format
 

Do NOT do a Quick Format this will not work,

If you Format a 2Gb CF Card it will take around 40min? to Format,

 

 You are now ready to Install Workbench to your drive
 

Go back to the Installer Drawer

and open up Install Drawer

 

 Now Proceed with Workbench Install.
